To make this easy to use and reuse in your center rotations, just laminate the game boards and use small manipulatives for the game pieces instead of candy. Students won’t need very much direction or support from you, since these are skills they are reviewing and the rules of the game are easy to understand. Since these games are easy to play, they’re perfect to use during center time in your classroom. There are so many ways that you can use these games in your classroom! 1. Students can choose a card and then find the lowercase letter on the mat that matches the capital letter on the card they chose. Instead of using the picture cards included with the freebie, you could use your own uppercase letter cards. You could also modify this game to practice letter identification if you have students who still need to practice uppercase and lowercase letters. Just like the last game, students will place a small candy or manipulative on the correct letter. Once the student has been able to identify the initial sound, they will look for the letter on the mat that matches that sound. Students will choose a card from a pile of picture cards, identify the picture by name, and then listen for the beginning sound of that word.
